Santo Domingo.- The Fourth Collegiate Tribunal of the National District, sentenced nine people who participated in a structure that was dedicated to erasing or altering criminal records in the Attorney General's Office.
The sentences vary between 6 and 10 years in prison, for several former police officers and administrative employees of the Public Ministry and even a prosecutor who made up the network.
The network operated since 2017, and made the most system alterations in 2023.

The structure erased the criminal records of murderers, rapists, drug traffickers, and people who committed other crimes, so that when their identification number was entered into the Attorney General's system, no record would appear against them.Another of the main reasons why they requested to erase these records was to be able to travel.
The Public Ministry requested that the accused be declared guilty of multiple legal violations, namely: articles 123, 124, 125, 166, 167, 174, 175, 177, 265 and 266 of the Dominican Penal Code; articles 3, numbers 1, 2 and 3, and 9, numbers 1, 2 and 4, of Law 155-17 on Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing; articles 5, 6, 7, 9, 10 and 17 of Law 53-07 on High Technology Crimes and Offenses; articles 66 and 67 of Law 631-16 for the Control and Regulation of Weapons, Ammunition and Related Materials, as well as articles 2, 3, 5 and 6 of Law 448-06 on Bribery in Commerce and Investment, among others.
Finally, the company Nexcon Tecnology faces charges for violation of articles 3, numerals 1, 2 and 3; 4; 8 and 9, numerals 1, 2 and 4, of Law 155-17 on Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing, to the detriment of the Dominican State.
