Public Ministry and DNCD carried out 10 raids in actions against micro-trafficking in Capotillo

In the new phase of the operation initiated on May 31st, 21 people were arrested with more than 10,300 grams of prohibited substances. Santo Domingo.- In a new offensive against micro-trafficking, prosecutors from the Public Ministry and agents of the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD) carried out a large-scale operation in the Capotillo sector, in the National District, where they arrested 21 people and seized more than 10,375 grams of different narcotic substances. The intervention, carried out early this Thursday, involved the participation of 10 prosecutors and more than 70 agents of the DNCD, who carried out 10 simultaneous raids as part of a joint strategy to dismantle drug trafficking networks in neighborhoods of the capital. During the operations, 5,551 grams of a substance presumed to be cocaine, 3,059 grams of marijuana, 1,704 grams of a rocky material presumed to be crack, 61 grams of a substance known as molly, and 57 ecstasy pills were seized, totaling 10,375 grams.

In addition, the authorities seized 18 scales, 11 cell phones, 4 slot machines, several boxes of cigarettes, 2 laptops, RD$34,170 Dominican pesos, one US dollar, and other evidence linked to drug trafficking. Among those arrested are seven Haitian citizens, who were handed over to the General Directorate of Migration for the corresponding purposes. This is the third intervention by the authorities in Capotillo in recent weeks. In a previous operation, carried out last weekend, seven people were arrested and 10,126 grams of narcotics, scales, a communication radio, and cash were seized. Likewise, on May 31st, the Public Ministry, the DNCD, and the National Police carried out a joint operation to combat crime and dismantle an illegal video surveillance network in the sector. Security agencies have reported that interventions in Capotillo will continue with the purpose of guaranteeing a higher level of security and tranquility for the residents of the area. The detainees will be prosecuted by the Public Ministry for violation of Law 50-88 on Drugs and Controlled Substances.
