Russia will take military measures following Denmark's decision to host the production of fuel for Ukrainian missiles, warned today the spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.
"The Russian side will continue to firmly and decisively defend its legitimate interests to alleviate the threats to national security that arise," he said in his weekly televised press conference.
The representative of Russian diplomacy reacted to the agreement reached in early September between Kyiv and Copenhagen to produce fuel for the new Ukrainian long-range missile 'Flamingo' in the south of the European nation.
According to Zakharova, these plans "confirm Copenhagen's hostile militaristic policy, which, along with other countries that have an aggressive attitude towards Russia, sabotages efforts to reach a political-diplomatic solution to the Ukrainian crisis."
"This carries risks of further escalation," he added.
The announcement of the creation of a Ukrainian missile fuel factory on Danish territory was made during the visit to Denmark of the Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelensky, who met with the leaders of the Nordic and Baltic countries to ask for "more support for Ukraine on the front and at the negotiating table".
This new factory is part of the agreement signed two months ago between Kyiv and Copenhagen to establish joint defense companies on Danish soil, for which Denmark has allocated 500 million kroner (67 million euros).
The production will be carried out by the Ukrainian company Fire Point, manufacturer of the 'Flamingo' missile, and will start on December 1st.
