Submit a formal request to the Council of Aldermen of the local Mayor's Office
Santo Domingo.- The National Press Workers Union (SNTP), Santo Domingo Este branch, has taken a firm step in defending the labor rights and economic sustainability of its members by formally submitting to the City Council the request that a majority portion of the municipal advertising budget for next year be allocated to the media and press workers residing and working in that demarcation. The request, which seeks a fairer and more equitable distribution of advertising resources, was delivered to the main blocks of councilors, including the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD), the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM), and the People's Force (FP), as well as to the President of the Council of Councilors. The SNTP Secretary General, Darío Mañón, pointed out that the request seeks to correct a historical injustice. "For years, the mayors have allocated most of the advertising budget towards media and interests of the National District, to the detriment of the quality of life of our colleagues. The press workers of Santo Domingo Este barely receive 8% of what should rightfully be ours," said Mañón. The SNTP calls on all press workers in Santo Domingo Este to remain vigilant and attentive to the process of knowledge and approval of the budget in the coming days, as this is a union struggle whose victory will represent a significant improvement in the living conditions of the journalistic class of the municipality.
