Shanghai.- The Chinese tech company ByteDance, known for being the parent company of the popular social network
TikTok, has attracted the attention of users and investors in recent days after launching an artificial intelligence (AI) model for video generation that "exceeds expectations in terms of realism."
This new AI, called Seedance 2.0, was launched this weekend, and its features have translated into significant stock market gains for companies not only in that sector but also in the entertainment industry, with some of them reaching the daily maximum of earnings in these last sessions.
Image and Sound
According to the economic news portal Caixin, this model can generate realistic footage with fluid movements, also adding sounds that match the images, which for the first time puts ByteDance in a position to compete with KlingAI, developed by the short video platform Kuaishou.
Feng Ji, producer of the popular video game 'Black Myth: Wukong', described Seedance 2.0 as "the most powerful video generation model to date", and predicted a significant impact in terms of reducing production costs for film and television, as well as for other types of content.
The official Seedance 2.0 website claims that the big difference compared to similar models is its ability to maintain the coherence of the characters in different scenes.
A Before and After for the Use of AI in Film and Television
According to Kaiyuan Securities analysts cited by Bloomberg, this new model could mark a before and after for the use of AI in film and television: "The test results are impressive. It supports text, images, videos and audio input, and has made advances in key capabilities."
However, Feng also raised the alarm about the proliferation of fake videos generated by this type of service, which could generate a crisis of confidence: "Realistic fake videos will be available to everyone, and intellectual property and supervision systems will face unprecedented challenges."
«In the future, any video content that does not have official and authorized backing, especially those with personal images and voices, could be fake. Please make sure to verify them through multiple channels to avoid being deceived,» the producer indicated on social media.
Seedance 2.0 hasn't reached the market in isolation, as its main local rival, the aforementioned KlingAI, launched its version 3.0 on the 4th, with intelligent framing and the ability to add new images and subjects to the original video as major attractions.
