Members of a musical group disappear in northern Mexico

Mexico City.- Collectives and family members denounced this Tuesday in Mexico the disappearance of five members of the Grupo Fugitivo, in Reynosa, Tamaulipas, a state bordering the United States, and of whom all trace was lost last Sunday, May 25, after having performed in the Riberas de Rancho Grande neighborhood.

“An immediate search is triggered to locate the members of the Fugitive Group in the presence of their families and in coordination with the Tamaulipas State Commission for the Search for Persons, the Attorney General's Office of the State of Tamaulipas,” stated the Desaparecidos en Tamaulipas Colectivo Amor collective on its social media.

Previously, the Tamaulipas State Commission for the Search of Persons issued search warrants for the five men identified as Francisco Xavier Vázquez Osorio, 20 years old; Nemesio Antonio Durán Rodríguez, 40 years old; Livan Edyberto Solis de la Rosa, 27 years old; Víctor Manuel Garza Cervantes, 21 years old, and José Francisco Morales Martínez, 23 years old.

In their latest posts, hours before their disappearance, the Fugitive Group shared a video on their social media where they perform the melody 'Humilde De Abolengo' and, previously, they published a photograph on the border with McAllen, Texas, where they expressed their hope of working, someday, in the United States.

"See you later in McAllen, Texas. Pure Fugitive crossing borders (Don't believe it, just the photo on the (Mexican) side, but let's hope one day we can extend to the (United States)," they pointed out in the publication. According to information published in the media, the family members lost contact with the group members on Sunday night, after they performed in Riberas de Rancho Grande, in the municipality of Reynosa.

From that moment on, they said, the musicians' cell phones have been turned off and therefore the families have turned to the search for the five young people.

“We are going to find you, even if we have to look for you at the end of the world, we will go there. We will not leave you alone, we are going to find you, daddy. You hurt me too much,” said Deisy Cervantes, sister of Víctor Manuel Garza Cervantes, on social media.

The Fugitivo Group is a group that performs Mexican corridos, which is dedicated to performing at local events, and has more than 5,800 followers on its Instagram account and more than 4,800 followers on Facebook.

The disappearance of the musicians occurs amidst the crisis of disappearances that the country is going through, with more than 125,000 reports of missing persons.
