Tampa, Florida. — With a two-run homer by Dominican Junior Caminero and a solid pitching performance by Drew Rasmussen, the Tampa Bay Rays defeated the Minnesota Twins 5-0 at George M. Steinbrenner Field, closing out a successful home stand that marks a milestone in the club's recent history.

The victory represented the seventh in the last nine games for the Rays, who managed to win consecutive series against the Astros, Blue Jays, and Twins. This is only the fifth time in franchise history —and the first since 2018— that Tampa Bay has won at least seven games during a nine-game home stand, according to Stats Perform.

With a mark of 28-27, the Rays are once again above .500 and move up to second place in the American League East Division, solidifying a comeback that keeps them firmly in contention.

“This group has the potential to gain momentum, and that's exactly what it did this past week,” said Erik Neander, Rays' president of baseball operations. “We are back in a much more competitive position within the American League.”

Command on the mound and power at the plate

The victory was backed by a notable performance from the mound. Rasmussen pitched six scoreless innings, allowing only one hit, one walk, and striking out five, in what was his third consecutive start of six innings without allowing runs.

On offense, the Rays remain hot. Brandon Lowe hit his eleventh home run of the season, while Caminero, one of the club's young Dominican prospects, hit his tenth home run, driving in two runs and reaffirming his value as a key piece in the lineup.

Over the last seven games, Tampa Bay has outhomered its opponents 13-6 and has hit 21 home runs in its last 15 games.

Looking at the second part of the season

The campaign's "first quarter" has yielded learnings and positive signs for the Rays. The starting pitching has allowed two runs or less in eight consecutive starts, and the team has held its rivals to three runs or less in six straight games, their best mark so far this year.

Now, with a more defined identity and a palpable momentum, the Rays face the second part of the season with renewed confidence
