During the incident, the soldiers ordered the Haitians to stop, however, they did not comply with the order to halt, and threw stones and other objects at the military, who repelled the action with several warning shots to stop the aggression, resulting in two undocumented individuals being hit and wounded by firearms.

In the midst of the darkness in the area, some of the Haitians in irregular migratory status escaped, while others were injured, which are presumed to have been caused among themselves, the Army said.

Regarding the injured, they were attended to by medical personnel from the Ramón Matías Mella hospital in Dajabón, where they were transferred after the incident.

The undocumented foreigners detained were transferred to the headquarters of the Tenth Infantry Battalion of the ERD, for the relevant legal purposes.
