During the event, held at the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC), the Minister of Health, Dr. Víctor Elías Atallah Lajam, along with the director of the National Hemocenter, Dr. Pedro Sing, and the representative of the World Health Organization in the country, Dr. Alba María Ropero Álvarez, led the presentation of the recognitions to various allied institutions that have supported the national blood system. Alofoke Media Group has played an active role in promoting donation, not only through permanent campaigns on its platforms, but also by recently becoming a fixed donation center in alliance with the National Hemocenter. This initiative arose after the collapse of the roof of the Jet Set nightclub, when Santiago Matías made a public call to donate blood in favor of the victims, mobilizing hundreds of people and reaffirming the power of networks in causes of high social impact. In addition to Alofoke, institutions such as Customs, Cervecería Nacional Dominicana, the Ministry of Sports, the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) and the Trepano Foundation were also recognized for their contribution to strengthening the country's blood donation system. The director of the National Hemocenter highlighted that thanks to these inter-institutional alliances and the support of the citizenry, the Dominican Republic has managed to significantly reduce the deficit of blood units and increase the rate of voluntary donation. However, he reiterated that there is still a long way to go to achieve the ideal goal of supply. The celebration also served as a call to continue promoting the culture of responsible and voluntary donation, highlighting that donating blood not only saves lives, but also represents a gesture of love and solidarity with those who need it most.
