Milly Quezada, moved after rehearsal for the tribute to Rubby Pérez: "What a way to celebrate such an important legacy"

Santo Domingo. – The iconic “Queen of Merengue,” Milly Quezada shared her impressions after participating in the rehearsals for the tribute that will be paid to Rubby Pérez, “Rubby Pérez Infinito,” and other victims of the tragedy at the Jet Set nightclub, scheduled to be held this Friday, July 11, in the Eduardo Brito Hall of the National Theater.

"It will be a night filled with deep emotions, with deep joy, with an immense repertoire... like the immense Rubby was. We have just done everything, from top to bottom, everyone participating in an impeccable production by Manuel Tejada, which will not be wasted. There will be no shortage of applause or joy," expressed the merengue singer in heartfelt words.

Milly, who described the late merengue singer Rubby Pérez as "our highest voice of merengue", expressed in a choked voice that tomorrow she and the other artists who will participate in the tribute will sing and fill the room with music, remembering with joy a man with an infinite legacy.

The interpreter of "Para darte mi vida", in her emotional words, also recalled how the departure of Rubby Pérez stirs similar emotions to those she felt after the death of the "Caballo Mayor", Johnny Ventura, who passed away on July 28, 2021.

"Something similar happened to us with Johnny. Although he was preparing us, we were not prepared for that tragedy. But Rubby's, the way it happened, must be no less felt. Both figures represent the most emblematic of what it is to be Dominican. It's a very deep contrast: this profound sadness, accompanied by such an impeccable, joyful repertoire, and the immense solidarity that the artists have shown," added Milly.

Quezada highlighted that in the middle of the rehearsals she decided to sit where the audience will sit and what she felt was a mixture of joy, laughter, tears, celebration and applause, assuring that this is how tomorrow night will be, a night of multiple emotions, so she is already eager to celebrate and honor a musical legacy as important as Rubby's.

Finally, Milly thanked God and the entire production team for making this possible despite the challenges:

“Thank God for the talent that the Dominican Republic has in its artists, producers, and visionaries who have supported this. All of this costs, and achieving it in this room, where Rubby was also the first artist to be mourned in person… is a symbol. Rubby had a splendid life, a wonderful farewell. What we have to do now is honor his memory head-on, with music, because that legacy does not come off Rubby, nor Johnny, nor Celia, nor any of the greats. That is a blessing without limits,” he added.

The tribute "Rubby Pérez Infinito" will bring together more than 20 national and international artists on stage in a night full of emotion and great memories.
