FEDA has invested RD$34 million in the training of 78 thousand farmers

The Special Fund for Agricultural Development (FEDA), directed by Hecmilio Galván, held this Friday the National Agricultural Training Seminar in the Multipurpose Hall of INFOTEP in Santo Domingo, where it presented the successes and results of the National Agricultural Training Program, which is implemented with facilitators from FEDA and collaborating institutions from the public and private sectors nationwide. The FEDA Program has been the most massive in history, reaching over 78,000 producers and entrepreneurs across the country who have been trained and registered nationwide, for their participation in some 2,108 training activities, including conferences, workshops, courses, seminars and talks of the training program implemented by FEDA with an estimated investment of RD$34,465,000.00 pesos. "This training process is a new experience that makes people important, includes and motivates them, they discover that they can learn, develop, empower themselves and grow economically and, most importantly, they are a catalyst for private investment," pointed out the director of FEDA. To execute this extraordinary agricultural training program, the FEDA has established collaboration agreements with different institutions such as: INFOTEP, IDECOOP, IDIAF, CODOPESCA, INAGUJA, DIGEGA, CONACADO, UTEPDA During the seminar, Ms. Camila Ribera, Deputy Director of the National Institute of Public Administration INAP, participated, who highlighted the importance of knowledge for agricultural development, facing the challenges of these new times with innovation, indicating that the training of producers multiplies the productivity and sustainability of the country. From his side, Luis Beltre, Director of Professional Training at INFOTEP, highlighted the benefits of this agricultural training program, which provides a space for the exchange of knowledge in the agricultural sector. FEDA's training sessions are aimed at the training of various groups of producers, men and women, both individually and collectively and in an organized manner: always emphasizing participation through organizations of small and medium producers, as well as neighborhood councils, associations, cooperatives and federations, etc. In appreciation for their outstanding participation as agricultural training facilitators of FEDA, director Hecmilio Galván presented a recognition to the 189 participating trainers and encouraged them to continue doing work worthy of admiration and respect. FEDA Training Areas

Among the areas taught during the period 2021-2025, the following stand out; the breeding and management of sheep and goat farming and green livestock farming, in which 219 training events were carried out, with the participation of 7,869 small and medium-sized ranchers.

Workshops on fish and bee breeding and management have also been implemented, which seeks to develop aquaculture and beekeeping in rural territories to increase the production of fish in ponds and honey in apiaries; imparting 209 training sessions, with the participation of 8,650 producers. The promotion and cultivation of cocoa, coconut, citrus fruits, avocado, bitter cassava and bamboo, etc., to promote their planting and increase the production of these crops in the country; 336 training events were carried out with the participation of 8,916 farmers and entrepreneurs. Empowerment of young people and rural women to undertake and develop productive and business initiatives in agriculture; organizing and executing 229 training events, with the participation of 10,062 beneficiaries. The special emphasis on training, as a fundamental cross-cutting axis present in all the projects' performances, ensures that the activities are carried out with technical criteria that have quality, profitability, associativity, generators of food and income. Cooperation, as an organizational form of small and medium-sized producers to manage the economic and social requirements of their initiatives and businesses with efficiency and effectiveness; 54 educational sessions were held in this area, with the participation of 1,754 members. Also, the Agroecology Area stands out, with the programs Saving the Mountains and Sow Your Town; imparting a total of 219 educational sessions, to raise awareness, directly and indirectly, to a population of 37,210 people in the rural environment. In addition to the training related to public investment plans, the FEDA actively participated in the organization and execution of 313 fairs and festivals; where training events were held on general topics and related to the fairs held; with the participation of 11,300 people
