CODIA proposes to Abinader to raffle sidewalk and curb works for RD$4,000 million

Santo Domingo. – The newly sworn-in president of the Dominican College of Engineers, Architects and Surveyors (CODIA), geomatic engineer Enrique Rosario, urged President Luis Abinader to award the RD$4,000 million investment to build sidewalks and curbs in municipalities and municipal districts by lottery, in order to guarantee transparency and offer opportunities to more professionals in the sector. Rosario described the allocation of these funds through the Dominican Municipal League as "great news", but insisted that, if done by lottery, it would "go from good to excellent", raising the quality of the works and encouraging the participation of the members.

"Mr. President, those works can be raffled; we are going to raffle them, to raise their quality and to give work to our members. Let's support CODIA", expressed during his inauguration speech.

The swearing-in ceremony took place in the Manuel del Cabral auditorium of the Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo (UASD), where Rosario García presented her work plan for the 2025-2026 period, based on four strategic axes: the defense of the professional practice of engineers, architects, and surveyors, the reconstruction of the guild's headquarters, the promotion of continuing education through courses, seminars, and specializations aimed at the safety of works, and the creation of an Access to Information Office to guarantee transparency and prevent litigation. Rosario García, surveyor and civil engineer with over 20 years of experience in the construction sector, assured that his management will work to strengthen the guild and expand the job opportunities of its members. Enrique Rosario García will be accompanied on the board of directors by the architect, George Richardson Rodríguez, general secretary, as treasurer will be the surveyor Rafael Ferreras Ramírez, the chemical engineer Marcy Germán Gómez, secretary of records and correspondence, the electromechanical engineer Juan José Santos Jiménez is the new secretary of education and events, while the civil engineer Cesar Antonio Ramírez Rivera, secretary of public relations, and the agronomic engineer Florencia González Mejía, secretary of inter-professional affairs.
