Washington. – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed on Monday his willingness to hold a meeting “without conditions” with Russian President Vladimir Putin in the next two weeks, although he clarified that there is still no defined date.
In a press conference in Lafayette Square, in front of the White House, Zelensky stated that he is ready for a high-level meeting with his Russian counterpart, and that according to the results of that initial meeting, US President Donald Trump could join the negotiations.
“It may be that the pressure from the United States is required for this to happen”, indicated the Ukrainian leader, after a day of meetings with Trump and with six of the main European leaders who have shown their support for Kyiv.

Zelensky also noted that the talks in Washington included a discussion about security guarantees that contemplate a military material package valued at 90 billion dollars, supplied by the United States through Europe, in addition to the possible delivery of drones. However, he stressed that there is still no formal agreement. The Ukrainian president insisted that imposing preconditions would not be viable: "If we ask for a ceasefire first, Russia would raise a hundred more demands," he warned. He also revealed that he had an extensive dialogue with Trump about the situation in the territories occupied by Russia and reiterated that any discussion about territorial cession must be held directly between Kyiv and Moscow.
