Mother of INEFI director, Alberto Rodríguez, passes away

The news of the passing of Mrs. Lilia Esther Mella Fernández, mother of Alberto Rodríguez Mella, director of the National Institute of Physical Education (INEFI), has come to light.

The remains will be exposed this Saturday, August 30, 2025, starting at 12:00 noon, at the Jardín Memorial funeral home, located on 27 de Febrero Avenue, and will receive Christian burial on Sunday 31, at 11:00 in the morning, in the Jardín Memorial cemetery on Jacobo Majluta Avenue.

The news has caused deep consternation in the sports, political, and communication spheres of the country, where Rodriguez has forged close ties during his professional career and public service.

Various personalities and sectors have expressed their condolences and solidarity with the official and his family in this difficult moment.

From the INEFI, institutional grief was also expressed, highlighting the fortitude and commitment of its director, who today faces a harsh personal loss.
