Trump: If NATO does what I say, the Ukrainian conflict will end quickly

The U.S. President, Donald Trump, has stated on his social media that if NATO followed his directives, the Ukrainian conflict would end quickly. "The letter that President Donald J. Trump has sent to all NATO nations and the world: 'I am ready to impose significant sanctions on Russia when all NATO nations have agreed and begun to do the same, and when all NATO nations stop buying oil from Russia'", wrote the president. "This is not Trump's war (it would have never started if I were president!), it's [former U.S. President Joe] Biden and [Vladímir] Zelensky's war. I'm only here to help stop it and save thousands of Russian and Ukrainian lives," he added. "If NATO does what I say, the war will end. Quick, and all those lives will be saved! If not, they will only be wasting my time, and the time, energy, and money of the United States," he concluded. Kremlin spokesman Dmitri Peskov said on Friday that Russia perceives a pause in negotiations with Kyiv. "I want to remind you of the words of President Trump, who also said that at first he thought it would be possible to resolve everything in an instant, but then he realized that more time was needed," he said.

Amidst his efforts to end the Ukrainian conflict, Trump repeatedly threatened Russia and its allies with sanctions. However, recently, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio explained why Washington is not imposing more sanctions against Moscow. The Russians "face daily" the consequences of the sanctions that the U.S. imposed on their country, but "that has definitely not altered the course" of the Ukrainian conflict, he indicated.
