Abinader calls on citizens to follow official recommendations and remain attentive to reports

Santo Domingo. – President Luis Abinader called on citizens this Friday to follow official recommendations and remain attentive to the reports of emergency agencies. Through his account on X (formerly Twitter), the president also stated that the Government is responsibly addressing the alerts issued by the Emergency Operations Center (COE) and has activated coordination with emergency agencies to protect the population.

“We are responsibly heeding the alerts issued by @COE_RD. We have activated coordination with emergency agencies to protect the population. We ask everyone to follow official recommendations and stay tuned for reports,” said the president. According to the latest report issued by the COE, 04 provinces and the National District remain on red alert, 11 are on yellow alert and 14 remain on green alert, due to the fact that the extensive cloud field associated with the active tropical wave currently locates its axis over the eastern part of Cuba, remains over the country. Also, this activity, supported by the incidence of a trough at various levels of the troposphere, continues to generate moderate to heavy showers, thunderstorms and wind gusts towards provinces of the Caribbean coast, the southwest and northeast. Similarly, these precipitations are expected to extend towards provinces in the coming hours and during the afternoon. The provinces on red alert are: Santo Domingo, Distrito Nacional, San Cristóbal, San José de Ocoa and Azua. While, on yellow alert are: María Trinidad Sánchez, San Pedro de Macorís, El Seibo, San Juan, Monte Plata, Pedernales, La Altagracia, Samaná, Hato Mayor and Barahona. The following provinces are on green alert: La Vega, Peravia, Monte Cristi, Dajabón, Santiago Rodríguez, Elías Piña, Puerto Plata, Monseñor Nouel, Sánchez Ramírez, Santiago, Bahoruco, Espaillat, Valverde, and Independencia. In that sense, people are advised to refrain from crossing rivers, streams, and ravines that present high volumes of water in the province under alert. Also, it is recommended that boat operators take due precaution in the face of reduced visibility due to the rainy activity that will occur towards the Caribbean coast and northeast of the country.
