Santo Domingo.- President Luis Abinader affirmed this Monday that the Summit of the Americas, to be held in the country next December, will be a "great event" and will bring together "thousands" of entrepreneurs from across the region.
"The Summit is not just a meeting for presidents and heads of state. For a week, thousands of entrepreneurs from all over the continent will meet, it will be a great opportunity for the promotion of the Dominican Republic", the ruler said in his usual meeting with the media at the National Palace.

In that order, he affirmed that the meeting represents an opportunity to promote the country in terms of investments and tourism." "We are preparing to show everything the country has, everything the country offers (...) I have no doubt that the country is the best to invest in all of Latin America," he added. Abinader said that within the Summit there will be other "mini-summits" of a diverse nature, such as the one that will bring together sectors of civil society in the region. The Dominican government said at the end of September that the Summit of the Americas of presidents and heads of state, from December 3 to 4 in Punta Cana, constitutes one of the main challenges for the Dominican Republic, as it implies a "high responsibility" on the multilateral level. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on that occasion in a document that the non-invitation of Cuba, Nicaragua, and Venezuela constitutes the decision that, given the hemispheric circumstances, "favors the largest convocation and ensures the development of the forum".
