Acroarte highlights the cultural impact of the Sonan-do project

Santo Domingo. RD- The Association of Art Journalists (Acroarte) celebrated the reach and acceptance of the Sonan-do project, a cultural proposal that has brought Dominican music to communities in the border provinces, traditionally excluded from this type of initiative. Under the coordination of musician Pochy Familia and with the support of an alliance between collective management organizations and various state institutions, Sonan-do is presented as a platform that honors the creators of national music and promotes the active presence of groups and popular artists on local stages.

“This project not only entertains, but also strengthens cultural identity and provides access to authentic artistic expressions to populations that rarely receive attention in the cultural sphere,” highlighted Marivell Contreras, president of Acroarte.

In addition to promoting merengue, bachata, and other genres, Sonan-do integrates into a broader vision that includes initiatives such as "Las Buenas Palabras" (The Good Words), from the Ministry of Culture, and INDOTEL's efforts to rescue and strengthen the national radioelectric space. The list of artists who will continue to visit and perform in the area is as extensive as the state entities and management agencies, including the Dominican Society of Interpreting and Performing Artists (SODAIE), the General Society of Authors, Composers and Dominican Music Editors (SGACEDOM). Added to these are the Collective Management Entity of Musical Arrangers (EGECAM) and the Dominican Federation of the Music Industry (FEDODIM), "whose representatives ensure that the dissemination of quality Dominican musical content is guaranteed as well as the protection and promotion of the rights of the authors and creators of the country," concluded Contreras.
