Venezuela receives 1,285,000 doses of different types of vaccines from India

Caracas.- Venezuela received this Sunday a total of 1,285,000 doses of different types of vaccines from India in two shipments, Nicolás Maduro's government reported. In the first shipment, 135,000 doses arrived, and in the second, 1,150,000, including vaccines such as pentavalent, MMR, PCV10, and rotavirus, indicated the Minister of Science and Technology, Gabriela Jiménez, on her Telegram channel. The goal, he assured, is to "ensure the supply of vaccines between the years 2026 and 2027, in cooperation with PAHO (Pan American Health Organization)", whose representative in Venezuela, Armando de Negri, was, along with Jiménez, at the Simón Bolívar International Airport of Maiquetía - which serves Caracas -, where the doses arrived. The also sectoral vice president of Science, Technology, Education and Health assured that these shipments are part of "an even greater effort, with more than eight million doses of vaccines that will arrive throughout this month".

Jiménez "deeply thanked the Government and people of India, as well as their ambassador to Venezuela, PK Ashok Babu". The official said that Caracas and New Delhi have "signed a cooperation agreement with the aim of boosting technological development in key sectors such as health, education, and government management". "This is an agenda that advocates for peaceful relations with brother countries around the world, such as India. A policy of peace, never of war," he added. For her part, the Minister of Health, Magaly Gutiérrez, also celebrated "the arrival of the second and massive shipment of vaccines from the Republic of India" with 1,150,000 doses, despite, she said, the "cruel blockade and imperialist threats". "This achievement, which adds to the first shipment received today, once again demonstrates the tireless commitment (...) to the health of the Venezuelan people and the future of our homeland," he expressed. Last August, the Venezuelan Government reaffirmed its willingness to deepen the bonds of friendship, solidarity and bilateral cooperation in "strategic areas" with India.
