RD closes the ICAN 2025 with 35 negotiations and 20 agreements that strengthen its air connectivity

Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Republic successfully concluded ICAN 2025 in Punta Cana, where it held 35 negotiations and signed 20 bilateral instruments with more than 87 countries and 600 participating delegates. These agreements will boost air connectivity, tourism, economy, job creation and foreign investment, consolidating the country as a regional leader in aviation.

The president of the JAC, Héctor Porcella, led the signing of new Air Services Agreements (ASA) with Oman, Paraguay, El Salvador, Greece and Eswatini, in addition to rubrics with Austria, Zimbabwe, Korea, Italy, Benin, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Belgium, United Kingdom, Tanzania and Hong Kong. An ASA with the Scandinavian countries initiated in 2016 was also finalized. In addition, MOUs were signed with Qatar and Ecuador, and bilateral meetings were held with delegations from countries such as Malaysia, Switzerland, Bahamas, Saudi Arabia, USA, Poland, Panama, Egypt and Singapore, as well as with the ICAO and executives from JetBlue.

During the event, the ICAO President highlighted the Dominican Republic as a “model country in air transport policy”. President Luis Abinader and the Minister of Tourism, David Collado, emphasized the importance of air connectivity for the country's tourism development.

The JAC thanked the State institutions that made the success of ICAN 2025 possible, reaffirming the national commitment to the Open Skies policy and the expansion of Dominican aviation.
