Putin proposes to equip the Eurasian security organization with Russian weapons tested in combat

Russian President Vladimir Putin declared this Thursday that Russia, during its presidency in the Collective Security Council of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) —which it will assume from January 1, 2026—, will continue to cooperate closely with its allies in everything related to the strengthening of the military potential of the organization. During a meeting of the CSTO Collective Security Council in Kyrgyzstan, Putin noted that Moscow will focus its efforts on improving the combat readiness of the CSTO national contingents and on improving the command and control of the collective forces. "We propose to launch a large-scale program to equip the collective forces with modern Russian weapons and equipment that have proven their effectiveness in real combat," he said.

The Russian leader detailed that to this end, Moscow plans to organize a series of joint training exercises for military units and special services. "We believe that the development of the aviation forces and the air defense system of the organization requires special attention," he added. Furthermore, Putin indicated that "much remains to be done" to improve the deployment mechanisms of the peacekeeping forces. Technological leadership of the CSTO in the military field "One of the main goals of the Russian presidency is the development of cooperation between our states to ensure the technological leadership of the CSTO in the military field, and we intend to place special emphasis on deepening cooperation between the companies of the military-industrial complex," he stressed.
