Edenorte deploys Christmas lighting operation in the Cibao

Santiago. - In one of the most extensive lighting days recorded in the region, Edenorte initiated the 2025 Christmas Lighting Operation, a plan that covers multiple provinces of the Cibao and intervenes in dozens of municipalities, municipal districts, main avenues and strategic highways. The action, which coincides with the start of the Christmas season, seeks to reinforce road safety, improve night visibility, and beautify public spaces during a period of high citizen and tourist traffic. The operation is carried out simultaneously in Santiago, Mao, Puerto Plata, La Vega, San Francisco de Macorís, Moca, Bonao, Jarabacoa, Constanza, Duarte, Hermanas Mirabal, Sánchez Ramírez, Samaná, among other demarcations, forming a technical and operational deployment in the north of the country. The plan involves the installation of new LED luminaires, replacement of damaged lamps, correction of lines, circuit maintenance, transformer verification, and total rehabilitation of critical points. The objective of Edenorte's Distribution management is that, before December 24, the main roads of the Cibao are completely illuminated. In Santiago de los Caballeros, the head municipality and economic hub of the Cibao, the brigades are carrying out intensive work on the main road corridors, including the Duarte Highway, on Estrella Sadhalá, Hispanoamericana, Bartolomé Colón, Rafael Vidal, Luperón avenues until starting the Tourist Road, Yapur Dumit, Circunvalación Sur, Antonio Guzmán and February 27. These points concentrate shops, residential areas, parks, squares and service centers, so the lighting will directly impact safe mobility and the Christmas atmosphere in the city. The operation also extends to all municipalities and municipal districts of the province, including Navarrete, Tamboril, Villa González, Sabana Iglesia, Jánico, Pedro García, Las Palomas, Puñal, La Canela, Hato del Yaque and Santiago Oeste, where work is being done on the main avenues and the accesses with the greatest citizen flow.

Mao: Weekly operation at the city entrances

In the province of Valverde, Santiago Rodríguez, Montecristi and Dajabón, Edenorte executes an operational calendar, focused on urban entrances and the verification of lighting on access roads, where the most outstanding intervention is in the municipalities of Mao, Esperanza, San Ignacio de Sabaneta and San Fernando, where technicians inspect circuits, replace and correct luminaires. The workdays take place both during the day and at night, and are part of a plan aimed at strengthening the lighting of those areas before the festivities.

San Francisco de Macorís and the Northeast: Fully Lit Regional Corridors

In Duarte province and surrounding municipalities, the operation covers all exits and inter-municipal corridors, including the main road of San Francisco de Macorís, such as Libertad Avenue, and from Tenares to the exit to Nagua, also Presidente Antonio Guzmán Fernández Avenue, to Cenoví, the exits to Villa Tapia, Las Guázumas and Jaya. While in the municipality of Pimentel work was done on the exit to San Francisco, exit to Castillo and Independencia street, in Castillo on the exit to Las Taranas, and Olegario Tenares street, in Villa Riva on 27 de Febrero avenue, exits to Arenoso, La Verde and El Abanico, in Nagua the works were carried out on the Nagua–Cabrera road, Matancitas, Prolongación Colón and María Trinidad Sánchez and in the municipalities of Cabrera, Río San Juan, Sánchez and Samaná the main exits were intervened, highlighting that it is one of the most extensive operations due to the high interprovincial and tourist flow of these routes.

La Vega, Moca and Bonao: urban centers and mountain roads included

In the province of La Vega, the brigades have intervened the Duarte Highway (La Vega–Moca and La Vega–Bonao). They will work in the town center, the Federico Basilis road towards Jarabacoa, the Juan Bosch road towards Moca, the Joaquín Balaguer road (La Vega–Guaiqüí) and the Rivas, García Godoy, Imbert avenues and the El Riíto Linear Park. Meanwhile, in Jarabacoa and Constanza, their urban centers and mountain roads such as Manabao, José Durán–Pedregal and El Carmen are being intervened. The intervention of the section of the Highway from the Cruce Controba – Jima Arriba is also contemplated. In Moca, the work will cover the Ramón Cáceres highway, Moca–Licey, Las Lagunas, El Mamey–Villa Trina, and the entrances to Guaucí and La Sirena, as well as the municipality of Gaspar Hernández and the Joba Arriba and Veragua area. While in Bonao, the works will be carried out on Libertad Avenue, Duarte highway, Aniana Vargas Avenue, Circunvalación, July 12th highway and Central street

Puerto Plata: Tourist Corridors and High-Traffic Roads

In the province of Puerto Plata, the Lighting Operation is advancing in phases: which includes the work in progress in the municipalities of Montellano, Imbert, Villa Isabela, Guananico, Mamey Los Hidalgos, on the Puerto Plata–Navarrete Highway, Puerto Plata–Gaspar Hernández Highway and in the districts of Cabarete, Estero Hondo and Sabaneta de Yásica. For the coming days, work is scheduled in the municipality of Altamira, in the communities of Yásica Arriba and Las Navas, highlighting that these interventions are a priority because they are tourist routes and productive areas. This general Edenorte operation has several pillars: citizen security, a functional lighting network that reduces accident risks and facilitates police patrols, visibility and nighttime mobility, since in the Cibao the commercial and social activity increases drastically in December, which demands adequate road conditions and above all Christmas atmosphere and beautification, since the lighting provides a warmer and safer image in streets, parks, entrances and urban centers.
