Santo Domingo.- A man identified as the alleged author of a video circulating on social media, in which he makes direct threats against President Luis Abinader and his family, was arrested this Friday afternoon by members of the National Police at a point on the road that connects La Romana with El Seibo.
The individual whose identity was not officially revealed is in custody at the El Seibo fortress. The capture occurred after intelligence agencies established contact with a close relative, which allegedly prompted the suspect to surrender.

In the viral video, the man identifies himself as Héctor Julio Mercedes Rodríguez, a supposed former sergeant major of the Dominican Air Force, who also proclaims himself with the alias 'La Bala' (The Bullet). In the recording, he utters threats using aggressive language and claims to intend to use a rifle against the president and his family. Authorities confirmed they are verifying the authenticity of the content, as well as the identity of the detainee.
