"I congratulate José Antonio Kast on his victory in the Chilean presidential election," wrote the Dominican president in a brief message posted on his X account. Abinader said he also congratulated the "culture of civility" shown by the other actors in the process. The ruler underlined that the other presidential candidates "timely" recognized the will of the Chilean people, "who voted peacefully and democratically". Kast will assume office in March and will become the first Pinochet supporter to come to power in Chile after the return to democracy 35 years ago.
