Beijing (EFE).- The Chinese Government conveyed this Thursday its "support for Venezuela's request for an urgent meeting of the Security Council of the United Nations Organization (UN)" following the blockade announced by US President Donald Trump against the South American country.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun stated today at a press conference that "it opposes all unilateral intimidation and supports all countries in safeguarding their sovereignty and national dignity." Guo asserted that "Venezuela has the right to independently develop mutually beneficial cooperation with other countries." This Wednesday, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi spoke by phone with his Venezuelan counterpart, Yván Gil, to whom he conveyed China's support amid growing US measures against the government of Nicolás Maduro.
