Barahona. – The Association of Parents and Mothers of the gymnastics athletes of Barahona made an energetic call to the authorities to urgently intervene in the rehabilitation of the bathrooms of the Gymnastics Pavilion, whose facilities are in a deplorable state and lack the minimum conditions for their use.

Daily, more than 30 girls receive training in that sports facility and are forced to use sanitary services in very poor condition. Faced with this situation, the fathers and mothers requested the Regional Sports Director, Rafelito Garo, and the Provincial Director, Cristian Núñez, to prioritize the intervention of this important scenario within their plans.

The athletes' mothers also expressed their concern for their daughters' health, as the accumulation of dust and the deterioration of the bathrooms represent a source of contamination that could cause illnesses in the minors. They reported that the bathrooms operate without water, lack decent facilities, and do not even have toilet paper.

Carla Vielna, president of the Parents and Mothers Association, stated that this is not the first time they have raised this complaint to the authorities without receiving a favorable response.

"We have made this claim on multiple occasions and have not received the necessary attention. However, we reiterate that we will continue to raise our voices to local, regional, and national authorities so that our athletes can have a pavilion in decent conditions," Vielna pointed out.

The community leader emphasized that she receives dozens of girls from Monday to Thursday, so ensuring adequate spaces for sports practice should be a priority of the Ministry of Sports, something that, in her opinion, is not currently being fulfilled.
