Santo Domingo.— A 5.7 magnitude earthquake was recorded on the night of this Monday in the Eastern region of the Dominican Republic, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).
The telluric movement occurred at approximately 10:45 p.m., with a depth of 10 kilometers, and its epicenter was located about 70 kilometers southeast of Punta Cana, in the province of La Altagracia.
So far, no material damage or casualties have been reported, although residents of various locations in the East area claimed to have felt the tremor intensely.
Local authorities and civil protection agencies remain in monitoring in the face of any aftershock or situation derived from the seismic event.
