Santo Domingo.— The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Roberto Álvarez, will make a firm call for the fulfillment of the commitments made to help Haiti during his participation in the General Assembly of the Organization of American States (OAS), which will be held in Antigua and Barbuda from June 25 to 27, the Dominican Foreign Ministry reported this Monday.
According to an official statement, Álvarez will reiterate his concern about the worsening of the Haitian crisis, which, as he warned, represents a direct threat to the security of both the Dominican Republic and the entire region.
Under the slogan "Building resilient and inclusive economies in the Americas", the event will also be a platform for other diplomatic activities. Among them, the Dominican chancellor will preside over the second ministerial meeting of the Summit Implementation Review Group (GRIC), as part of the preparations for the X Summit of the Americas, scheduled to be held at the end of this year in Punta Cana.
