Santo Domingo.– With evident difficulty in moving and still in the process of recovery, Aracelis Santana, one of the survivors of the tragedy that occurred at the Jet Set nightclub, appeared this Wednesday at the Palace of Justice in a wheelchair to seek justice.
Prior to the hearing where the coercive measure against those involved will be known, Santana expressed his rejection of the granting of house arrest to Mrs. María del Carmen Espaillat, sister of businessman Antonio Espaillat, also charged in the case. "Regarding Antonio Espaillat's sister receiving house arrest due to her health condition, I hope justice is served, because she was aware of the roof's condition and that could have been avoided," he firmly expressed. Santana maintained that the tragedy was not a chance accident, but a direct consequence of the negligence of those who knew the poor condition of the infrastructure. You may be interested in: Carlos Escalante: “We are going to fight for the victims until the end; this cannot go unpunished”
“I hope justice is done… we are going to wait for what the judge indicates,” he concluded. The case, which has caused national outrage, involves the owners of the iconic Jet Set nightclub, whose roof collapsed, leaving a balance of 226 dead and 180 injured.
