Two men arrested for theft of construction materials in Santiago

Santiago. – The National Police, through its Cibao Central Regional Directorate, reported that members of the Preventive Police attached to the Gurabo sector detachment arrested in flagrante delicto two men who were caught stealing construction materials from a house undergoing remodeling, located in the La Moraleja sector of this city. The detainees were identified as Cristian Vargas Binet, 34 years old, and Steven de Jesús de León Trinidad, 27. Both were caught when they were trying to leave the place with 13 rods of 1 ½ inches, which they intended to transport on a motorcycle parked near the property.

According to the report from the Property Crimes Investigation Section, the police patrol detected the individuals in the early hours of Tuesday, July 23, while they were removing the materials from the area of the residence's canopy, under the custody of the complainant. The property owner stated that it is not the first time a robbery has occurred on that property. He pointed out that on at least three previous occasions, thefts of tools and materials have been reported, including an ice cooler, shovels, picks, sledgehammers, sprays, chisels, more than 170 rods of different diameters and two quintals of chopped wire, with an estimated value of 180 thousand pesos. The detainees were placed at the disposal of the Public Ministry for the corresponding legal purposes.
