Santo Domingo.– The urban artist El Poeta Callejero, whose given name is Geraldo Gabriel Santana, presented on the night of Friday, May 16, 2025, his own version of the song “Ta de Pinga”, using the same musical track that has been popularized by Shelow Shaq, but with a completely new lyric, which still focuses on social, political, media, and entertainment topics.
Through his distinctive lyrical style, El Poeta addresses a variety of situations affecting Dominican society and the world. In his interpretation, he criticizes the lack of economic equity —“the rich are not satisfied with what they have, the poor say there isn't even a cent”— and points out international conflicts such as “Trump is fighting over tariffs”. He also questions the practice of current journalism with phrases like “there are journalists who are not university graduates” and “the communicators are misinforming”.
The song also mentions the recent case of the girl who was swept away by a sewer in San Cristóbal and rescued by community members, highlighting the lack of action by the authorities in the face of emergencies involving human lives. Likewise, the artist expresses concern about modern upbringing, saying that “tablets and phones are what raise children”, in a direct criticism of technology as a substitute for family guidance.
In the entertainment scene, El Poeta Callejero doesn't shy away from controversy: he criticizes Santiago Matías (Alofoke) with the phrase “Alofoke says he's more than an artist”, thus joining the debate about the influential communicator's role in the country's media and cultural ecosystem.
The music video was filmed in Europe, combining urban shots with news archive images that reflect recent moments that have occurred in various countries. This visual fusion reinforces the critical tone of the theme and positions it as an artistic document of denunciation and analysis.
Since its release on its official channel, the song has generated widespread conversation on social media, where many applaud the reflective content and lyrical quality of the proposal and others accuse it of being a copy.
