A
clinic for those who don't like going to work has been opened in northern China with the purpose of addressing anxiety and depression caused by work,
reports local media.
The idea was proposed by the parents who had previously taken their children to a "clinic for those who don't like going to school", which aimed to help families address the contempt children may have for school through the treatment of post-traumatic stress and emotional problems.
"When the children went to the 'clinic for those who don't like going to school', some parents asked if there was a similar service for adults who didn't want to go to work," comments Yue Limin, director of the new center.
How does it work?
Within the objectives of the "clinic for those who don't like going to work" is to
help people struggling with fatigue, burnout, emotional instability, or the feeling that their work is meaningless.
"If we label it directly as anxiety or depression, some patients may feel stigma," Limin asserted.
"We hope that by using this name, patients can come to the consultation without feeling any pressure," he added.
The director assured that
such problems are usually due to psychological or social factors. The function of professionals is to identify the cause and then carry out an evaluation and diagnosis with which to provide treatment and support.
In the diagnostic process, interviews are conducted to assess the general emotional state of the person and rule out other conditions such as hyperthyroidism. Afterwards, the clinic develops a personalized treatment plan.
The center even has an outpatient service.
The idea has generated countless funny comments on the Internet. One user joked that, upon entering the place, you don't find any doctors because they don't want to go to work either, while another joked,
"Why would you go to this clinic? Do you expect to suddenly fall in love with the job after visiting it?".
