Cuba condemns the United States' bombings of nuclear facilities in Iran

Havana.- The Cuban government condemned this Saturday "energetically" the bombings by the United States against three nuclear facilities in Iran confirmed by the Republican president himself, Donald Trump, amid the current conflict between this country and Israel. The Cuban leader, Miguel Díaz-Canel, considered on his social media that the attacks "constitute a dangerous escalation of conflict in the Middle East."

“The aggression gravely violates the UN Charter and International Law and drags humanity into a crisis of irreversible consequences”, indicated the Cuban president in his message.

Trump confirmed that the United States had "successfully" completed an attack against three Iranian nuclear facilities including Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan. Regarding this, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez condemned what he described as a “direct aggression by the U.S. against Iran.” "It is a criminal, irresponsible act that violates International Law with incalculable consequences. It undermines the international nuclear security regime and the standards and safeguards of the IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency)," added the Cuban Foreign Minister on his social media. "It constitutes an escalation of an unjust war," he emphasized. According to Pentagon sources, the bombings were carried out in Fordow, the heart of Iran's uranium enrichment process under an armored mountain, with B-2 bombers, which can carry and launch the GBU-57 anti-bunker bombs of more than 13,000 kilograms. Iran, which has repeatedly denied developing nuclear weapons, has been exchanging air strikes with Israel since June 13, when the Israeli army bombed nuclear and military installations on Iranian territory. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered the offensive while Iran negotiated with the United States an agreement on its nuclear program.
