Hours after the Iranian regime attacked a United States military base in Qatar as a response to Washington's bombing of Iranian nuclear infrastructure over the weekend, the American president, Donald Trump, announced a ceasefire between the Persian country and Israel.
The agreement that Trump disseminated through the networks occurs after 12 days of war between Tehran and Tel Aviv, a confrontation that further strained the reality in a Middle East that is convulsed due to open fronts in Gaza, the West Bank, Syria, and Yemen.
The Iranian Foreign Minister, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, stated early Tuesday that, while there is currently "NO 'agreement' on a ceasefire or the cessation of military operations [...] as long as the Israeli regime stops its illegal aggression against the Iranian people no later than 4 a.m. Tehran time, we have no intention of continuing our response after."
"The final decision on the cessation of our military operations will be made later," he added in a statement on X published about 15 minutes after the deadline.
