Washington.- The United States government urged its citizens in Iran on Monday to leave the country immediately or, failing that, to prepare to take refuge for extended periods due to the conflict with Israel.
"U.S. citizens should not travel to Iran for any reason and should depart the country immediately if they are already there," the State Department said in a statement.

"Those who cannot leave should be prepared to shelter in their homes for long periods," he added.
The administration of U.S. President Donald Trump warned that Americans "face serious and increasing dangers" in the Islamic Republic, with which the United States does not maintain diplomatic relations. The Swiss Embassy in Tehran, which handles U.S. interests in Iran, remains closed until further notice and its ability to assist U.S. citizens is limited, the State Department said. The attacks between Israel and Iran continued this Monday for the fourth consecutive day and have already left more than 220 Iranian and 24 Israeli deaths, as well as hundreds of wounded, in an escalation of tension that today shows no signs of stopping.
