Santo Domingo.– The General Secretariat of the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE) in the Dominican Republic expressed this Thursday its concern about what it considers a growing normalization of personal discredit as a political and social tool, especially when it is directed towards women with a public presence.
Through an official statement signed by its general secretary, Julia Muñoz Alegre, the political organization reaffirmed its commitment to democratic values, freedom of thought and equality, while rejecting "all forms of moral violence, misinformation and attacks on personal dignity".
“Politics should be a space for the debate of ideas, not dehumanization. Those who step forward in public life deserve respect, not harassment,” the document expresses.

Muñoz Alegre said that the defense of democracy also implies the protection of the integrity of those who participate in it responsibly, regardless of their country, ideology or background. The statement does not mention specific cases, but its tone responds to the current context of recurrent attacks on public figures in the media and social networks.
From the PSOE in the Dominican Republic, a call is made to build a healthier political environment, where respect and argumentation prevail over insult and misinformation.
