SANTO DOMINGO.- The Basketball Association of the National District (Abadina) has a new Executive Committee for the period 2025-2028, following the celebration this Saturday of its Club Election Assembly, which took place in the events hall of the Dominican Sports Museum.

The young sports leader and club member Edwin Castillo (Tatico) took the reins of district basketball by defeating Gilberto De la Cruz (Mañiño), in a 17-13 vote, in an electoral process in which democracy and the will of the vote played a preponderant role. They will be accompanied in the Abadina directive by former player Héctor Junior Gil, as vice president; the Immortal of Sport José -Boyón- Domínguez, general secretary; Raúl Peña (Koby), treasurer; Alex López, Organization secretary; and Santo María, in press. Also, Cristóbal Encarnación, César Pilarte, and Anthony Fernández will be the vocalists. Castillo, president of the La Ciénega club, headed the number 1 slate called "For the dignity of the clubs", while De la Cruz, president of the Renacer club, led the number 2 slate called José Heredia Castillo "Transparency and equality for all". Castillo and De la Cruz are two valuable leaders from the populous capital sectors of La Ciénega and Guachupita, respectively, and were part of the outgoing Executive Committee (2022-25), which was chaired by Colonel Diego Pesqueira, spokesman for the National Police. The Abadina Electoral Commission to elect the 2025-2028 Executive Committee was chaired by César Pérez Samboy, treasurer of the Dominican Basketball Federation (Fedombal). Also integrated were Domingo De la Rosa, member of the Santo Domingo Province Basketball Association (Abasado), who served as secretary, and Roberto Ramírez, president of the Dominican Federation of Clubs (Fedoclubes), who was a member.
