Rome.- A five-year-old girl damaged a sculpture by artist Carlo Pecorelli at the Orler Art Gallery in Jesolo, northern Italy, which is estimated to be worth 30,000 euros, after climbing on it to try to paint on one of the exhibited paintings, according to local media reports this Friday.
The events occurred on September 1st, but came to light this Friday; the minor, of Polish nationality, had escaped from her mother's control and, with a pencil in hand, tried to draw on the work of Enrico Castellani, valued at around 200,000 euros, and which represents a blank sheet of paper, which is what attracted the little girl. To get to her, the girl climbed on 'Golden Athena', a 24-karat gold spider by Pecorelli, and broke one of its legs. The gallery owner, Marco Orler, intervened immediately and prevented further damage, so that Castellani's canvas was unharmed. You may be interested in:Luis Felipe Noé, the artist who revolutionized Argentine painting, dies at 91
