São Paulo.- The
Senate of Brazil approved this Wednesday the bill that seeks to reduce the sentences of the far-right former president Jair Bolsonaro, sentenced to 27 years in prison, and other participants in the coup conspiracy that occurred after the 2022 elections.
The project, which had been approved last week in the Chamber of Deputies, had 48 votes in favor and 25 against, and will now be sent for presidential sanction.
Just today, the defense of former President Jair
Bolsonaro requested authorization from the Supreme Court for the former president to receive the attention of a physiotherapist in the cell of the Federal Police Superintendence where he is serving his sentence.
In a request addressed to Judge Alexandre de Moraes, rapporteur of the process, the defense argued that Bolsonaro's personal physician recommended the performance of respiratory and motor physiotherapy sessions, as an "essential measure" to maintain the physical condition and postural readjustment of the former president, as well as "the prophylaxis of clinical complications, given the clinical and functional picture presented".
