CEDIMAT Transplant Committee Sworn In

This directive will be in charge of the evaluation, monitoring, and notification of patients who are candidates for transplantation.

Santo Domingo.- The National Transplant Council (CNT) and the National Transplant Coordination Institute (INCORT) swore in the Hospital Transplant Committee of the Centers for Diagnosis and Advanced Medicine and Medical Conferences and Telemedicine (CEDIMAT), for the strengthening of the processes of organ and tissue donation and transplantation in the country.

Antonio Villegas, medical director of CEDIMAT, stated that “este comité representa un paso firme hacia la consolidación de una cultura de trasplante en nuestra institución. Teniendo la convicción de que con este equipo comprometido y altamente capacitado podremos continuar brindando esperanza y calidad de vida a quienes más lo necesitan”.

The swearing-in was led by the Minister of Public Health and President of the CNT, Víctor Atallah, who pointed out that this committee reaffirms the commitment to the Dominican health system through a more humane, transparent, and close exercise.

We strengthen our transplant network and offer more hope for life to people who need it. In transplantation, in addition to cure, there is justice, ethics, love, dedication, and organization; those disciplines are what a committee requires and are essential,” expressed Atallah.

José Juan Castillos Almonte, director of the National Transplant Institute (INCORT), was in charge of offering the central words of the event, highlighting the importance that the new committee will have for the development of organ, tissue, and cell donation and transplantation in the Dominican Republic.

This committee represents a significant achievement for INCORT and the hospital community, marking an important step in strengthening the transplant system in the country,” stated Castillos.

The CEDIMAT Hospital Transplant Committee will have as its main functions the evaluation, monitoring, and notification of patients eligible for transplant, as well as ensuring ethics and transparency in each procedure. With this swearing-in, CEDIMAT reaffirms itself as a vanguard institution in Dominican medicine, committed to excellence and life.

Highlighting its leadership in terms of living kidney transplantation, providing the opportunity for dialysis patients to reintegrate into their daily lives, emphasizing that the aforementioned health center has one of the largest and best-equipped dialysis units in the country, supported by specialists who have been pillars in the history of kidney transplantation at the national level.
