Cuba will suffer simultaneous blackouts this Friday in up to 58% of the country, the highest rate of affectation recorded in about three years, according to the forecast for this day of the state-owned company Unión Eléctrica (UNE) and the data collated daily by EFE.
The highest figure to date was recorded last February and September, with 57% of the country without power at the same time.
The prolonged power cuts planned for this day occur amidst the severe energy crisis affecting the Caribbean island, plagued by daily blackouts of more than 20 hours in large regions of the country and five national blackouts in less than a year.
