Disney has officially confirmed that a sequel to the live-action film Lilo & Stitch is already in development. The announcement was made on June 26th, a symbolic date in honor of Experiment 626, the government name of the popular blue extraterrestrial.
The news was revealed through a video on the studio's social media, where Stitch appears driving a pink convertible through the Disney studios. "I should have known I couldn't keep a secret. Although details about the plot or a possible release date are unknown for now, Disney announced that this new production seeks to continue the success of the first live-action film of Lilo & Stitch, released last May 23. Directed by Dean Fleischer Camp, the film has grossed to date around 923 million dollars worldwide, far exceeding the studio's expectations.
