Dominican Cystic Fibrosis Foundation calls on authorities to expand the high-cost medication catalog

Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Foundation for Cystic Fibrosis and Other Pathologies (FUNDOFQ) expressed the need in the country to expand the catalog of high-cost medications for this disease, and to include essential molecules for the life of these patients. Alexandra Tabar, president of , clarified that these molecules would be pancreatic enzymes, inhaled antibiotics, and other essential treatments. Likewise, Tabar recalled the urgency of executing the Neonatal Screening Law, to ensure a timely diagnosis and appropriate treatment for affected children. These statements were offered by the president of the foundation during a delivery of medications, supplies, and toys to children living with cystic fibrosis, with the aim of bringing them joy and hope. In this Christmas, the Foundation extends its hand and calls for the solidarity and commitment of all, with the hope of turning these needs into a reality. Cystic Fibrosis is a hereditary genetic disease that causes abnormally thick and sticky mucus, primarily affecting the lungs (causing infections and respiratory problems), the pancreas (hindering digestion and absorption of nutrients, leading to malnutrition) and other organs.
