In a strategic surveillance and tracking operation, the security forces of Guatemala achieved a significant advance in international judicial cooperation this Wednesday. The Ministry of the Interior, through the National Civil Police (PNC), confirmed the capture of a 29-year-old man, who is wanted by the authorities of the United States on serious sexual charges.
The operation, which successfully concluded in the southern zone of the Central American country, highlights the intensification of the search efforts for international fugitives within Guatemalan territory. The arrest of the extraditable took place on 13th street, between 1st and 2nd avenue of the 1 de Mayo colony, located in the municipality of La Gomera, Escuintla. According to the official report of the PNC, investigators from the Department of Financial and Economic Crimes of the Specialized Division in Criminal Investigation (DEIC) maintained discreet surveillance in the sector after receiving intelligence information about the whereabouts of the suspect. The captured individual was identified as Roberto Antonio Corado Carbajal. At the time of his interception by DEIC agents, his identity was verified using mobile devices and institutional databases, confirming that there was a current arrest warrant against him for international transfer purposes. Corado Carbajal is not a common criminal for local authorities; his profile responds to a formal extradition request made by the Government of the United States. The charges against him are of an extremely sensitive nature, linked to the protection of children and typified in the legislation of the state of Mississippi.According to the court record that motivates his capture, the detainee is linked to:
- Sexual assault: A direct violation of section 97-3-95 (I) (d) of the Mississippi Code of 1972.
- Touching a minor for lascivious purposes: A crime that involves a serious violation of the physical and psychological integrity of the victims involved in US jurisdiction.
