Bonao.– The Provincial Public Health Directorate (DPS) of Monseñor Nouel, led by Dr. José Báez, reported the arrival of the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine, an initiative aimed at preventing different types of cancer associated with this virus. During the activity, Dr. Báez explained that human papillomavirus is one of the main causes of cervical cancer, in addition to causing other types of cancer such as in the mouth, tongue, and other parts of the body. In that sense, he highlighted that this day is part of the guidelines established by the Ministry of Public Health and the program of vaccine-preventable diseases. The provincial health director urged parents and guardians to go to vaccination centers to immunize their sons and daughters, assuring that the vaccine is safe and does not pose health risks.You can also read: Health will introduce a new vaccine against Human Papilloma
On his part, Dr. Dicent explained that the health system has reached a new advancement with the introduction of the Gardasil 9 vaccine, which protects against nine strains of the virus, surpassing the quadrivalent or tetravalent vaccine that was previously used. He indicated that this new vaccine is aimed at boys and girls aged 9 to 14 years old and will be available at all vaccination posts in the province of Monseñor Nouel. It was pointed out that the objective of this strategy is to prevent people from developing cancers related to the human papillomavirus in adulthood. Likewise, it was clarified that the vaccine does not generate serious side effects, beyond common reactions such as mild fever or arm pain, usual symptoms after the application of vaccines. Health authorities reiterated their commitment to continue strengthening prevention programs to ensure a better quality of life for the population."We invite the entire population to vaccinate their children to prevent future risks. This vaccine is safe and is an important tool to protect the health of our new generations," expressed Báez.
