Police Sergeant Major Dies During Robbery on November 6th Highway

San Cristóbal. – A senior sergeant of the National Police, residing in the Altos de Chavón sector, in the municipality of Los Alcarrizos, was shot to death on the night of Saturday, January 3, during a robbery that occurred on the 6 de Noviembre highway, near the Haina circulation. The non-commissioned officer was identified as Joan Feliz Montero, who was riding a motorcycle with a companion after leaving a commercial establishment in Haina, when he was intercepted by several criminals who shot him multiple times and stole his service weapon, a 9-millimeter caliber pistol. Feliz Montero was transferred to a health center in the municipality of Haina and later referred to the Juan Pablo Pina Regional Hospital, in San Cristóbal, where he died while receiving medical attention.

The acting coroner ordered the transfer of the body to the National Institute of Forensic Pathology for the corresponding purposes, while the authorities deepen the investigations to identify and apprehend those responsible for the act.
