San Pedro.- The malecón of San Pedro de Macorís became this Saturday the epicenter of culinary creativity and cultural pride with the celebration of the “Largest Domplinada in the world”, one of the most representative dishes of the cocola identity.
The activity marked the official start of the San Pedro 2025 Gastronomic Fair, which takes place from June 27 to 29 as part of the program of the Patron Saint Festivities of San Pedro Apóstol, with the participation of more than 100 local ventures. The inaugural act was led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Roberto Álvarez; Senator Aracelis Villanueva; Mayor Raymundo Ortiz; along with Deputy Nelson Arroyo, and other personalities from the political, social, and cultural spheres of the East.This event aims to achieve the Guinness record for "The world's largest dumpling" and dozens of volunteers worked under the direction of chef Norberto Eusebio. More than 2000 pounds of salami and 2000 pounds of kneaded flour, resulting in 38 thousand dumplings.
Confirmation is expected from the organization Guiness World Record to verify that the challenge was achieved and the sultana from the east will enter the record book.
