Senator Gustavo Lara gives an account and highlights legislative agenda focused on the integral development of San Cristóbal

San Cristóbal. – The senator of San Cristóbal, Gustavo Lara Salazar, presented his first accountability report as a representative of his province before the Upper House, during a crowded event that brought together the main municipal and provincial authorities, community leaders and social sectors. In the meeting, which was attended by the President of the Senate, Ricardo de los Santos, and his wife Judith Moscoso, the congressman reaffirmed his vision of driving San Cristóbal towards a more prosperous, modern, safe and humane future, under the principle that development must be achieved "without leaving anyone behind". Lara Salazar explained that, during the past legislative year, she promoted modern and necessary initiatives from her seat, designed to respond to global changes and the opportunities that the province deserves to take advantage of. She pointed out that many of these proposals arise from the needs of San Cristóbal, but are designed to positively impact the entire country.

Among these, the law that creates the "Program for the practical labor training of young technical and university students" stood out, which establishes a minimum annual quota of 2% of the staff in public entities for internships, also guaranteeing a monthly economic compensation equivalent to the current minimum wage. During his legislative management, the senator for the province of San Cristóbal was the proponent or co-proponent of important laws, including: the one that declares the Cuevas del Borbón or de Pomier Anthropological Reserve as the Rupestrian Capital of the Dominican Republic; the one that creates the Public Registry System for the Identification of Technicians and Professionals; the one that designates the Techado Sports Center of the municipality of San Cristóbal with the name of Douglas Miguel Hasbún José; the one that creates the National Blood Bank and Blood Donation System; the Law on Cybersecurity Management; the Water Law of the Dominican Republic, presented together with Senator Dagoberto Rodríguez Adames; the Electronic Sports Law, submitted together with Senator Omar Fernández, among other initiatives. In the realm of resolutions, the one requesting the National Health Service to transform the Dr. Rafael J. Mañón Hospital into a Maternal and Child Hospital stands out; the one that asks the National Health Service to install an inter-municipal hospital in the municipal district of San José del Puerto, in Villa Altagracia. Likewise, he mentioned the resolution that asks the Ministry of Culture to build the Constitution Museum; and the one that promotes the creation of the Parliamentary Friendship Group between the Senate of the Republic and the Parliament of Kenya. The legislator emphasized that his management has prioritized health, education, and infrastructure, through actions aimed at improving essential services for the population. Regarding his oversight role, he explained that when applied to public works, it is based on four principles: real and verifiable progress of the works at each stage, compliance with quality standards, correct orientation of public investment, and respect for established deadlines. Gustavo Lara Salazar reported that he maintains a close management with permanent contact with the communities of San Cristóbal, receiving weekly commissions from citizens to channel solutions to the demands of the province through the Senatorial Management Office. Among the programs executed, he mentioned the Housing Repair Program, with 40 houses intervened, and the Route of Happiness, an initiative that brings support and joy to adults and children during the Christmas holidays and the Epiphany. Senate President Highlights Gustavo Lara's Work Senate President Ricardo de los Santos stated that the act of accountability demonstrates a great commitment from Senator Gustavo Lara Salazar to the Constitution of the Republic and to his community, as well as to carrying out transparent and ethical management. "We congratulate him, and we say to all the people of San Cristobal that they have a great representative in the Senate of the Republic, in the person of Gustavo Lara, who has done commendable work in all his tasks, both in committees and in the chamber."
He defined him as a full-time senator with a great concern for his province in a Senate that has been characterized by being highly productive. He cited the example of the father of the country, Juan Pablo Duarte, who was the first to give an account, for his commitment to transparency and the clean handling of funds. The event took place in the Auditorium Menor of the Instituto Politécnico Loyola, and was attended by senators Santiago José Zorrilla, from El Seibo; Pedro Catrain Bonilla, from Samaná; Aneudy Ortiz, from San José de Ocoa; the provincial governor Pura Casilla; the mayor of San Cristóbal, Nelson de la Rosa; Benny Metz, president of the National Council on Disability (CONADIS); Vladimir Ruiz, president of the San Cristóbal Business Council, among other personalities.
