New York.- The U.S. President, Donald Trump, gave his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, during their meeting on Friday in Alaska, a letter from his wife, Melania Trump, in which she urges him to protect children from war, Fox News reported this Saturday.

The conservative channel, which publishes the full letter with the letterhead and signature of the First Lady, indicates that Trump personally delivered the letter to Putin before their meeting and that he immediately read it while the American and Russian delegations present there observed him. The former Slovenian model told Putin that children want "love, possibilities and security from danger" and reminded him of the responsibilities and duties of "parents" and "leaders" to nurture the "hope of the next generation" beyond the "comfort of a few," according to the American media.

What does Melania's letter to Putin say?

"A simple but profound concept, Mr. Putin, as I am sure you agree, is that the descendants of each generation begin their lives with a purity, an innocence that is above geography, government, and ideology," said the First Lady, who demanded that he "restore" the situation of minors in the conflict.

"By protecting the innocence of those children, you will do more than just serve Russia, you will serve humanity itself. Such a brilliant idea transcends all human divisions, and you, Mr. Putin, are fit to implement this vision with a stroke of a pen today. It's time," the missive concluded.

No agreement

The meeting between Trump and Putin yesterday at a military base in Anchorage (Alaska) ended without an agreement for a ceasefire in Ukraine, and this Saturday the American changed his position and said that the "best way" to end the war is to "directly reach" a lasting peace agreement. Trump also announced that he will meet with Zelensky in Washington on Monday, after which he anticipated that "if all goes well" he will schedule a trilateral summit that includes Putin.
