Santo Domingo.- The senator for the province of Independencia, Dagoberto Rodríguez, stated that it is a lie that the customs offices of Malpasse, in Haiti, are under the control of the gangs that currently operate in this country neighboring the Dominican Republic.

He indicated that the Haitian gangs are located about 20 kilometers from Jimaní and maintained that this information has circulated due to "an invention of a journalist" who seeks to affect the commercial route in the area because of a conflict between merchants.

This trade route was reopened three weeks ago, which, according to the senator, is the one preferred by merchants because of the time they save in transporting goods.
